EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing – a structured, evidence-based psychotherapy proven to help people of all ages recover from PTSD, Complex PTSD (C-PTSD), and the difficult symptoms they bring, such as flashbacks, nightmares, distressing thoughts, and hypervigilance.
EMDR works by helping the brain process and ‘unstick’ traumatic memories, reducing their emotional impact and allowing healing to take place. Backed by clinical research and recommended by NICE in the UK, EMDR is one of the most effective treatments available for trauma recovery.
Click on the blocks below to explore more about what EMDR is, how it works, how effective it is, what to expect in a session, how many sessions you might need, what to know before starting, as well as how EMDR can support children and those living with C-PTSD.
